Quick Poll

The Republican Party is
still the Party of Reagan
completely out of touch with America
a purely obstructionist entity with no fresh ideas
now a permament minority Party
a racist organization
looking out for the little guy
looking out for the rich elites

Sarah Palin And The GOP

posted Monday, 10 November 2008

There's been a lot of talk about Sarah Palin as the standard bearer of the GOP going into the next presidential election. I suspect she'll fade away, just like Dan Quayle did after famously telling the press that he'd be running for president in '94!

However, it's really interesting to get a glimplse of the Republican Party through the lens of Palin. She's already highlighted the split between the social conservatives and the fiscal conservatives in the GOP. Her VP campaign spotlighted her views on religion in government which left many fiscal conservatives cold -- and her lack of understanding of the economy didn't help. Nor did her profligate spending on expensive new clothes at a time when the McCain campaign was struggling for money.

No, if the Republican Party falls in line with Sarah Palin, they'll be reduced to being the Party of a rapidly shrinking "real America" -- a small portion of this great country left behind and bitter with their God, guns and gays strategy. I just don't see that happening to the once Grand Old Party.

Here's a first !! I agree with you (what ??!) Yeah, Palin's just the pretty "cheerleader" right now. As far as the whole 150k for clothing goes, so what !! The RNC dressed her up, they paid for it, if she doesn't give the clothes back, then the people who donate to the RNC should bitch about it. But for us as a nation to focus on something so trivial...I don't get it. You know that Barck wasn't wearing suits that came from Mervyn's or Ross "Dress for Less". He looked pretty damn sharp and he will continue to look that way. But we don't hear about the cost of that .....do we? Who's going to want those dresses back after they've been shipped to Alaska anyway. They're going to be wrinkled all to hell and smell like Moose!! Keep 'em and consider it an award.....for putting up with all of those Old Farts at the RNC. Blaze a new trail Sarah !! but please stay in Alaska

You don't think that $200k could have been put to better uses? Like staffing more campaign offices or putting more ads on TV?

As for Obama's clothes, he pays for his own. With his own money.

And if she keeps the clothes, it's going to cement an image of a hillbilly lootin' all the silverware on her way out of a gracious host's house. So yeah, I hope she does! :)

Sarah Palin is a one trick pony...but, she'll divert the MSM for the next twelve years...perhaps give the Republicans time to regroup, get rid of Rovian Ways, and become a contender again.

Oh AP, I totally think that they could've spent the money better, but you know as well as I that we're all about "Style over Substance" We're not going to elect someone that looks like S@!T! You wash your car before you sell it...Don't you? It's the same thing. She'll fade away (Just like Ferraro did in the 80's), but watch out for Hillary (she's a comin'...and I for one would support her. She's a no BS politician and that's pretty cool !!)

So anyway, "Marysdude", you can pray all you want for Palin, she's just the "flavor-of-the-month" because the GOP has no other option right now

"If I'm not close by

  • when you close your eyes

  • and if you should stray

  • or run far away"

PS AP, call me this weekend...I've got some interesting news !!

'Lullabye',

I'm new here, so my link didn't link, but it went to a site wherein Palin was saying God would guide her to the presidency, or some such...trust me not to do the prayin' for her. For one thing I'm an atheist, and for another I'm so very liberal leaning, I'm almost upside down.
