I just want to congratulate Senator Barbara Boxer on getting legislation passed to help out our troops in Iraq,
Congress recently passed emergency supplemental legislation to support American troops. I am pleased that the spending package includes my provision for a $60 million item to pay for Army roadside bomb jammers to be used in Iraq.
Jammers help neutralize the threat of roadside bombs by interfering with the signal transmitted to the improvised explosive device’s fuse. So far, roadside bombs have accounted for the deaths of 351 U.S. soldiers in Iraq and have been the leading cause of deaths there for the last three months.
We must to give our service men and women the protection they want and need. I am pleased that Congress included my provision to help protect our troops and Iraqi civilians from these deadly roadside bombs.
I am very proud to be represented by that woman.
I'm proud of Senator Boxer, too. I wonder if red states feel the same when
their reps vote for the bills the credit card companies write for
them?
