Democracy Breaking Out All Over

Last weekend Americans saw US Marines protecting a hundred thousand Iraqis marching in support of Hezbollah shouting, "Death to America!" Does anyone else think that's just completely wrong?

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was asked about it on the Sunday talk shows and she thinks it's a wonderful expression of free speech. "That people would go out and demonstrate and say what they feel is the one sign that perhaps Iraq is one place in the Middle East where people are exercising their right to free speech."

What a dim-bulb! People all over the Middle East are marching in the streets shouting "Death to America!" By Dr. Rice's logic, Iran is a pillar of democracy and civil liberties. Freakin' incredible.

Whether you liked it or not, you always knew what the Clinton administration was doing. And you knew they were grounded in reality. God save us all from an administration that believes its own spin. And where the hell is the Congress that's supposed to set the administration straight on issues like that? Oh, that's right, they're all rubber-stamp Republicans. God save America from the Republican Party.
