I couldn't believe it. After it became clear that Senator Clinton won in Nevada on Saturday, I heard Chris Matthews ask one of his "experts" if it was possible that Hillary Clinton was making a calculated play bad-mouthing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to prey on "brown on black" animosity and thereby win more of the Latino vote!
Why do the pundits have to couch every Clinton win as the result of some cold calculation -- the misty-eyed moment before the New Hampshire primaries and now this? Why can't Hillary just be Hillary? Why can't the pundits just take her at face value?
For so long, she has been perceived as cold, and hard, and insensitive,
then when she inadvertently shows a softer and gentler side, she is jumped
on immediately. I don't believe either of the Clintons will ever be cut
any slack by those against them. It isn't that they are hated like the
current Pres.....but because they are feared. Their name preceeds them and
seperates the waters....and lots of things just fall into their laps. That
is dreaded by the conservacans. They'll always be treated as special and
different.....high price to pay for intelligence, eagerness and success.
