Quick Poll

The Republican Party is
still the Party of Reagan
completely out of touch with America
a purely obstructionist entity with no fresh ideas
now a permament minority Party
a racist organization
looking out for the little guy
looking out for the rich elites

This book is a must-read for all you "Anybody but Bush" voters out there. By the same token, if you're a Democrat, but you don't know much about Kerry yet, here's your chance. If you're going to vote for this guy, you should know what you're getting. And don't rely on the media to provide an unbiased view of Kerry's vision for America; you're not going to get it from them.

I'd also recommend this book to any moderate Republican. In the absence of any moderation from the current crop of Republican leaders, you may just find that you're a moderate Democrat. Remember, it's a secret ballot. None of you're Republican friends will ever find out. :)

Kerry starts out by explaining why he is running for President, "I don't believe there's much left in the Republican Party of the spirit of true civic service or the courage to defy powerful interests and seriously address the most pressing national issues. And too many people in my own Democratic Party are focused on narrow interests and as a result have too little vision of the vast potential for achievement, at home and abroad, for the United States under the leadership we deserve. It's time for a new call to service. It's time to rally Democrats, Republicans, and independents alike to face the common challenges of this generation."

Kerry then lays out his vision of where America can grow stronger in the areas of foreign policy, the economy, education, health care, energy, and the environment. Kerry ends the book by encouraging Americans to get engaged in our government, as the founding fathers intended we should. Kerry also says one of his major goals will be to "give every American who is willing to perform national service the immediate opportunity to do so." If, after the terrorist attacks on 9/11, you felt the need to do something other than "Get down to Disney World in Florida," as President Bush asked us to do, then you might want to hear what Kerry is asking of us.

The book is a quick and easy read, and after finishing it you'll have a very good understanding of what John Kerry stands for. It may just make you change your vote from "Anybody but Bush," to "John Kerry instead of Bush."
